DC residents needing to renew a medical cannabis card or those without a card
Upon submission of an application, applicants receive a temporary digital registration that allows them to purchase cannabis for up to 30 days while their application is under review by ABCA.
DC residents under 21 are required to visit a healthcare practitioner for a recommendation.
DC residents 21 or older may choose to self-certify without seeing a healthcare practitioner.
Registrations are valid for up to two years from the date of issuance
There is no fee at this time
Online applications are strongly recommended, but applications may be submitted in person, mailed or emailed to xyz@gmail.com with “Patient Application” as the subject.
Parents or guardians of minors (under 17 years of age) must submit a “Minor Medical Cannabis Patient Application” that includes a healthcare recommendation number and an identified registered caregiver.

Out of state or international resident without a medical cannabis card
New Options for On-the-Spot Cards! Non-DC residents can choose from five valid periods when registering for temporary medical cannabis cards. They are: 3 days-$10, 30 days-$20, 90 days-$50, 180 days-$75, and 365 days-$100
Applicants seeking a temporary registration must complete an easy two-step process. Applicants must first submit the Non-DC Resident Medical Cannabis Patient Application. Upon submission, applicants will immediately be emailed an online payment link to complete their registration. Patients will promptly receive a digital registration that may be used immediately.
Please do not complete the application more than once. If you do not receive a payment link or a registration, please contact xyz@gmail.com, and we will assist you in contacting ABCA. We recommend you do this during the week before you visit the dispensary, so if you have any concerns, we can be in touch with ABCA while they are open.
If you are applying for another month of the Non-Resident Visitor’s Pass, you will need to complete another application and receive another payment link. Please do not use your first application and payment link.
Patients extended reciprocity do not need to apply to ABCA but must maintain an active patient registration through their state or territory’s program. Patients with expired registrations may apply for a temporary Non-DC Resident Medical Cannabis Patient Registration.
Non-DC Resident Medical Cannabis Patients will only be issued a digital registration that will be sent to the email included in their application.
Non-DC residents must present a valid digital or physical patient registration and a government-issued photo ID at the dispensary.
